摘要：圣玛利亚女校肇端于19世纪末的上海，美国圣公会创办之旨趣是为“培养合格的女基督徒”，于校内设选修性质的音乐科，涵盖琴科与唱歌科，以配合其办学初衷。文章在厘清女校音乐科办学活动的基础之上，结合女校音乐社团的发展历程，进一步阐释、分析了其音乐教育在20世纪初期西乐东渐、中西音乐交流的过程中所发挥的重要作用，以及对中国女子音乐教育所做出的贡献。

St. Mary’s Hall and Music Education of “Christian Woman”

　　Abstract: The St. Mary’s Hall was founded in Shanghai in the end of nineteenth century. The purpose of the American Episcopal Church established St. Mary’s Hall was that to “train qualified Christian woman”, thus to set up the music section including the courses of instrument and singing in the school according to the original intention of running school. Based on clarifying the school music educational activities and combining the development course of the music society in the school, the article further explained, analyzed its music education playing an important role in the process of the Western music had come into the China and music exchange between China and Western in the early 20th century, as well as its contribution to the Chinese women’s music education.
